Nutrient-Rich Organics for Pawsome Health

No Poultry or Pork

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups lean beef, ground or finely chopped

  • 1/2 cup beef liver, finely chopped

  • 1/2 cup beef kidney, finely chopped

  • 1 cup cooked lentils (rinsed and drained)

  • 1 cup cooked barley or oats

  • 1 cup pumpkin puree

  • 1/2 cup peas, fresh or frozen

  • 1/2 cup carrots, finely diced

  • 1/2 cup spinach, chopped

  • 2 tablespoons flaxseed oil or fish oil (for omega-3 fatty acids)

  • 4 cups low-sodium vegetable broth or water

Instructions:

  1. In a large pot, cook the lean beef over medium heat until fully browned. Drain excess fat if needed.

  2. Add the finely chopped beef liver and kidney to the pot with the cooked beef and stir well.

  3. Incorporate the cooked lentils, barley/oats, pumpkin puree, peas, carrots, and spinach into the pot. Mix thoroughly.

  4. Pour in the vegetable broth or water and bring the mixture to a boil.

  5. Reduce the heat and allow the mixture to simmer for about 15-20 minutes, ensuring the vegetables soften and the flavors meld together.

  6. Stir in the flaxseed oil or fish oil for added healthy fats. Mix well.

  7. Remove the pot from the heat and let the homemade dog food cool completely before serving.

Feeding Guidelines:

  • Serve around 2.5 to 3 cups of this homemade food per day for a 50 lb dog, divided into two meals.

  • Adjust serving sizes based on your dog's individual needs and activity level. Always provide access to fresh water.

Additional Tips:

  • Organ meats like liver and kidney should be offered in moderation, as they are nutrient-dense. Consult your veterinarian to determine the appropriate quantity for your dog's diet.

  • As with any dietary changes, introduce new foods gradually into your dog's diet and monitor for any signs of allergies or digestive issues. If problems occur, discontinue feeding and consult your vet.

It's crucial to seek guidance from your veterinarian to ensure that your dog's diet meets their specific nutritional needs, especially when modifying their food.
